Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement (SVYM) is a development organization, engaged in building a new civil society in India through its grassroots to policy level action in Health, Education, Socio Economic Empowerment and Training and Research sectors. The organization today runs 9 institutions and has more than 40 projects in all the 4 sectors reaching more than 2.5 million people. SVYM believes that building human and social capital will result in economic consequences and all of SVYM’s programs are driven by this development paradigm. Buying in support from the community, working in healthy partnership with the government and corporate sectors and sharing its experiences with like-minded Organizations have been the hallmark of SVYM’s evolution over the past 33 years.

SVYM’s development approaches are targeted at marginalized and vulnerable communities with special focus on women and youth, through a series of well-planned interventions. The range of programs that SVYM undertakes, contributes to the achievement of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
SVYM’s Health Sector provides high quality cost-effective care in an equitable and sustainable manner with involvement of community and in alignment with the organizational interpretation of the core values. SVYM’s Vivekananda Memorial Hospital (VMH) at Saragur, is a multi-specialty 100-bedded hospital with 24/7 emergency and critical care facility providing cost-effective, rational & ethical secondary health care to annually more than 50000 patients from rural-tribal background.
SVYM’s public health initiatives include a Mobile health unit that provides primary health care to the rural-tribal people at their door steps. It’s Reproductive & Child health programs focuses on improving the maternal and child health status of forest based tribes. SVYM’s HIV Care and Control program is multi-faceted and multi-dimensional - like the Prevention of Parent to child transmission (PPTCT) program spread in all 30 districts of Karnataka, Targeted Interventions for migrant workers and community care centers at Saragur, Hassan and Dharwad. SVYM’s program on Water and Sanitation, Hygiene (WASH) addresses the issues in a holistic manner, through multiple activities including awareness generation, behaviour change, communication and capacity building among students and community members in four districts in Karnataka.
The Palliative Care program provides relief and care to people with life limiting diseases at their door steps through a home-based approach in Mysuru & Hassan Districts and provides urgent care through Palliative Care centers in Mysuru & Saragur. SVYM’s Community Based Rehabilitation Program is offering Comprehensive Care, Support and Treatment for PWDs in Mysuru and Kodagu district with enabling them to maximize their Physical, Cognitive and Sensory abilities and lead a socio-economically productive life. Intervention to expected to benefit 40,000 PWDs and around 20,00,000 population to be sensitized to support issues related to PWDs in the 2 districts.
