School of Artisan Food (UK)
The School of Artisan Food offers a unique opportunity for international students and tutors to experience artisan food production in the beautiful surroundings of the Welbeck Estate, in the heart of the UK.
Our guiding principle is that tastes and processes, such as fermentation, are allowed to develop slowly and naturally, rather than curtailed for mass-production. We teach people to understand and respect the raw materials with which they work; they should know where these materials come from and what is particularly good about them.
Topics are taught by expert tutors and artisan producers that still work in industry and are experts in their own fields. We combine both practical and theoretical teachings and tastings of produce to provide an unrivalled learning experience.
“This was certainly a trip of a lifetime for my students”
- Linda Svendsen, Senior Lecturer, Iowa State University
The School is a registered charity and, as a not for profit institution, is committed to providing the widest possible access to its facilities. The School fundraises to support its general activities and for bursaries to assist Advanced Diploma students with course fees.
Our students come from all over the world and our facilities are used by International food organisations and businesses for conferences and product development.
